Ms.

  • I found out in spring 2005 that I had stage 1 breast cancer in the left breast. We threw in the kitchen sink regarding treatment (so to speak) considering my young age of 25 years old and no family history of breast cancer. I went through chemo, radiation, herceptin, and hormone therapy.

Fast forward to spring 2009 and I develop debilitating back pain, which turned out to be a recurrence of the breast cancer in my spine. It was also in both lungs, my lymph nodes, and under my left pectoralis muscle. This after I've still been on hormone therapy and had my regular 6 month check up with my oncologist and just had a perfect MRI 2 weeks prior. What a shock!

Now more chemo to come, radiation, hormone treatments, and herceptin used to treat a chronic disease.
